Artificial intelligence (AI) holds significant promise for enhancing physiotherapy practice and education. However, this novel tool often raises ethical and practical concerns. Discussions often over-simplify AI’s role into extremes: either as a “saviour” or a “threat”, overlooking the complexities and nuances of human values and behaviours.

This webinar explores the ethics, moral uncertainty, and the evolving human role in AI-supported rehabilitation practice. The careful interaction between clinicians and AI technology has the potential to combine the strengths of human judgment and clinical reasoning with the data-driven insights of AI. When used appropriately and ethically, this partnership may help provide relief to some of the challenges we face within the profession. Collaboration among students, educators, clinicians, and policymakers is vital for navigating AI’s impact on rehabilitation, ensuring alignment with human values while leveraging its potential for transformative advancements.

This course aims to encourage dialogue and discussion around the ethical and practical complexities of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into physiotherapy clinical practice and education. It includes a 60-minute presentation, a short quiz and additional resources.

The webinar has been accredited in Australia, South Africa, and most States in the USA, and is also accepted in the UK, New Zealand, Ireland, and Canada.
