Until recently I thought that images were the only documents you could interact with using Copilot. However, I realised that you could also view PDFs in Edge, and then use the Copilot sidebar to interact with the PDF.
You could use this functionality to:
- Summarise research papers and reports.
- Generate lists of key takeaways.
- Relate information to your current working context.
- Create quizzes and assessment tasks based on the content of documents. For example, convert a PowerPoint slideshow to a PDF, and then ask Copilot to generate questions based on the content of the slides.
And if you’re logged in with your university email address (and your institution has an Enterprise Microsoft license), all interactions are secure and private, so no need to worry about data protection and privacy.
I believe that all users can interact with PDFs using Copilot in Edge, as long as you have a Microsoft account.
