OpenChat is an open-source large language model being developed by a student team at Tsinghua University in China.
In Dec 2023, OpenChat was GPT-3.5 equivalent, outperforming ChatGPT (Mar 2023) in some benchmarks i.e. the free version of ChatGPT, not ChatGPT Plus which is running GPT-4.
Despite our simple approach, we are committed to developing a high-performance, commercially viable, open-source large language model, and we continue to make significant strides toward this vision.
One of the features of OpenChat that I really like is the ability to save chats and prompts to folders. This is the first time I’ve seen a chatbot that gives you some basic tools to manage your conversations and I think this is a feature we’re going to see replicated in all other chatbot UIs soon. Update: ChatGPT has recently received a feature enabling you to archive chats.
