Trying to get better at getting better

Conference: AMEE 2023 in Glasgow

I’ll be attending the AMEE 2023 conference in Glasgow from 27-30 Aug. I’ll be posting my thoughts and notes at this stream over the course of the conference, and I’ll share a few summaries afterwards as well. I’m really looking forward to this conference, in a way that I haven’t felt for a long time. If I’m honest, I’ve felt a bit disconnected from the HPE research community over the past few years, and I’m seeing this event as a way to bring that focus back into my daily work.

The last time I was at an AMEE conference was in 2011, to present the results of a systematic review I completed as part of my PhD research, on blended learning in clinical education (note that the embeds no longer work on my shared post, but the presentation on Prezi still works; another note…I really like the design I came up with for the presentation).

I’ll be driving to Glasgow from Lincoln, leaving the day before the conference, and hoping to take a detour through the North Yorkshire Moors, and possibly the Lake District as well.

Note: I submitted 3 abstracts to present at the conference, all of which were rejected. I’m not complaining; having been involved in several conference organisation committees, I know how hard it can be putting together a programme for a diverse audience. I’m also trying to normalise the rejection that comes with being an academic, so have committed to posting my rejections as well as my successes. Here are the abstracts:
