Artifacts are a new feature in Claude.
Artifacts allow Claude to share substantial, standalone content with you in a dedicated window separate from the main conversation. Artifacts make it easy to work with significant pieces of content that you may want to modify, build upon, or reference later.
Anthropic (2024). What are artifacts and how do I use them?
Together with Projects and Custom Instructions, Artifacts seem to be part of an Anthropic initiative to give Claude more of a consumer-level focus.
I haven’t used them much yet, but I already appreciate the fact that Claude moves generated text into a sidebar (i.e. the Artifact), so that I can see it alongside the conversation. It also helps break up the ‘wall of text’-type responses you can sometimes get with LLMs.

Artifacts are currently an experimental feature preview that needs to be enabled before you can use it.
