In this conversation with Dave Nicholls, I describe how I use Obsidian to support my academic writing and creative process, in response to Dave’s question: Is using Obsidian worth it? I explain how I’ve set up different vaults in Obsidian, depending on what it is that I’m trying to do, and use examples from my own practice to show why I think Obsidian really does deserve all the hype.
I’m not sure if I convince Dave that the benefits are worth the cost in terms of the time you need to invest, but it’s a conversation that I enjoyed nonetheless.
We talk a lot about the demands of academic writing, and all the note-taking activities associated with it, as well as the challenges of being a productive academic. If you’re interested in academic productivity but sometimes feel like the administrative demands of higher education make it difficult to achieve your career goals, you may be interested in my Calm Productivity course.

Not sure if/when/why I might use Obsidian but there was much to enjoy from the conversation and reflex on.
