Google recently upgraded its note-taking AI assistant to Gemini 1.5 Pro, expanded its availability to over 200 countries and territories, and introduced several new features. NotebookLM now supports web URLs and Google Slides for input to generate answers to related queries. Answers will also contain in-line citations that link directly to the relevant passages in the source material. Also, the Notebook guide is now capable of generating high-level summaries, overviews and FAQs.

I haven’t used this at all, but it seems like an interesting option if you’re already integrated into the Google ecosystem. My notes are all written in Obsidian / markdown, and it seems unlikely that I’m going to move them all into Google.
However, I still want something like this, but via an open-source model that runs locally (this, for example). I want the benefits of working with my notes through generative AI without having to rely on a company that might decide to stop the service (or to start charging for it).
