Development of a physiotherapy module to use blended learning

This section will explore the background and methods used to develop a module using a blended learning approach.

Objectives

Introduction

Notes:

  • Using visuals in learning - podcast with Dr. Ruth Clarke. Appropriate graphics make it easier to learn complex concepts but not when combined with text, as both media are processed in the visual centres of the brain. Even worse is to add audio and text to a visual. The audio track is usually out of sync with people's normal reading rate which, combined with the additional work of processing text along with the graphic in the same area of the brain, makes learning the concept harder. For complex ideas, it's better to combine simple, appropriate graphics combined with an audio explanation. Clarke refers often to a study by Meyer?
