My name is Michael Rowe and I’m an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa. This is where I share some of the things that I’m interested in, most of which is at the intersection of healthcare, education and technology. I’m an NRF rated researcher, which basically means that a small group of my peers has evaluated my work and decided that I may one day do something useful or interesting.
I’m the co-founder of In Beta, a community of academics and clinicians who conduct experiments in physiotherapy education and who aim to take a critical position with respect to improving professional development in the discipline. I’m also the Editor and founder of OpenPhysio, an open-access journal with an emphasis on physiotherapy education. OpenPhysio has also adopted several innovative approaches to academic publication, which we believe will enhance how knowledge is produced and shared.
